Alpacas for Sale & Breeding Program
At Black Barn Alpacas, we are passionate about ethically raising healthy, high-quality alpacas while advancing exceptional genetics. Our sales program offers alpacas for a variety of goals, from champion producers, beloved companions and fiber producers.
Champion Gray & Black Genetics
Our dedicated gray and black breeding program focuses on combining top-quality genetics with the traits that matter most: exceptional brightness, staple length, fleece density, fineness, solid conformation, and sweet dispositions. We strive to produce outstanding alpacas that excel in both fleece quality, frame, and overall quality of life.
History of Alpaca Breeding
Alpacas are native to Peru and Chile. Over 35 years ago, the first alpacas made their way to the United States and have been thriving here ever since. As of now, there are only around 50,000 alpacas in the country and 20 alpaca ranchers in Maryland. At Black Barn Alpacas, we are determined to build America’s alpaca herd with strong, happy, and healthy alpacas.
Support for Every Alpaca Owner
Whether you are an experienced breeder looking to strengthen your herd or a first-time alpaca owner beginning your journey, we are here to help. We offer guidance in selecting the right alpacas, preparing your property, understanding daily care, and managing your herd for years to come.
We believe successful alpaca ownership starts with education and continues with a trusted relationship. Our mentorship and ongoing support help new owners build confidence and give their alpacas the best possible care.
Healthy Alpacas, Thoughtfully Raised
We prioritize herd health and compassionate care. Our management program includes appropriate vaccinations, deworming as needed, fecal testing, toenail trimming, annual shearing, and routine care tailored to each animal. We also provide a low-stress environment where our alpacas can thrive. While every alpaca has a unique personality, we encourage friendly, confident temperaments through thoughtful breeding and positive exposure to visitors on our farm.
